Promote your cause with dignity, and you'll have me and perhaps several others that wouldn't otherwise be there, in your corner.

I know you didn't ask me, but they could start by ditching the naked guys dancing in the street.

Yeah, I wouldn't be marching to support naked heterosexuals either.

I haven't ever been to one in SLC. Are they in speedos?

Yes they are, but for many (me included) when you dance around in the street wearing only speedos, you are as good as naked. I don't want to be a part of it. Again, promote with some dignity and you garner more support.

Homosexuals want to be treated like everyone else, they want people to stop thinking about and discriminating based on what they choose to do in their own bedrooms and then they take two steps back by bringing the bedroom to the streets. Perhaps it's just me, but it doesn't make much sense and it's frustrating for those who support the overall cause.

They have worse stuff than that in the Utah parade. Picture dudes with fairy wings and makeup clad in only sequined thongs. Pretty much anything with the exception of showing junk goes in most gay pride parades including the one in Utah.

The gay movement would get a nice shot in the arm if they suppressed the more outlandish factions of their membership.

Utah always seems to have parades with strange outfits and goofy people.

Read that Onion article. Part of the deal here is reclaiming stereotypes. I get what you are saying, but to me it would not make sense to withdraw my support because part of the movement expresses itself in an embarrassing way. I image at least some of us openly support movements or organizations that are in some ways deeply embarrassing to us because we stand with them over all.

It would seem that if acceptance and integration are key components to reducing discrimination, it would behoove gays to look like they're serious about looking and acting like everyone else. Obviously, for the vast majority of gays that's exactly what they do in their private daily lives, but the gay pride parades put out very conflicting messages.
