  • Family History Fan Chart

I'm not trying create a stupid, sounds like thread, but Mrs. F post below reminded me of a (kinda) cool site I learned about in a training meeting - www.createfan.com automatically generates a 9 generation family history fan chart. All you have to do is sign in with your lds.org login. As you can see from my chart, we have a little work left to do on my dad's side of the family.

    That's pretty cool.

I wonder how many of you in-breeds here will have common sections.

You realize you have signed your kids up for that in-breeding, right? In time, their genes will be about as recognizable as the Nephities' are in Native American dna.

Our role in Mormonism is to do our small part in diluting it.

          Good luck with that.

I figure even if I have a daughter marry young Heber Smith Pratt Monson, at least my grandkids will still have 50% non-inbred DNA.

Until those grandkids marry Brigham Cowley Olsen Hinckley and its reduced to 25%, and so on. There really is no escape from the mormon meat grinder.

Yep. And then one of your many retired uncles will make a geneology breakthrough on the one family line that is somewhat obscure and discover that your parents are 5th cousins. Which makes me an my brothers and sisters 6th cousins.

I married a non-Utahan convert so I set the clock back a little for my kids...but its only a matter of time before their posterity become 6th cousins.

True enough. That is why I said our small part.

Plus by then I will be long gone.

Thanks to my grandma and her sister, my 9 generation chart is 85%-90% filled out. At least I have a better idea where to start now.

I didn't know that the church was providing a public API for third-party developers. I use a lot of APIs in my personal development -- not sure I like the idea of my and my family's info being included in FamilySearch's API. Does anyone know if the church makes you agree to terms and conditions when submitting information via the extraction/FamilySearch process?

                          Well Crap.

My 17 year old daughter's "friend" from EFY this year is a FP members grandson. And the other side of his family are an equally recognizable Mo name.

Sometimes non-Utah doesn't matter. My wife and I are 7th cousins through her east-coast convert dad. Other than her dad all our lines are part of the Mormon meat grinder.
