Does anyone think this documentary will get much attention in the USA? I don't.

The only thing I fault him for is for saying he is not on the Strengthening the Members Committee so he couldn't speak to it, sort of insinuating he doesn't really know much about what it does beyond the idea that it protects the church from polygamy. I have a had time thinking that any of that is true (that he doesn't know much about it and that it deals primarily with polygamy). I don't truly know what it does so I may be wrong there, but the idea that he doesn't know that much about it because he is not on the committee does not have the ring of truth.

Brother Holland as of late has been pretty "screw our detractors" in conference. At least that is how I have taken it. The raw, rawing of his talks by the more conservative folks over on CB would lend credence to my take.

Yeah, he was a dick. Holland was not expecting that, I don't think.

I wish the church would let go of its unsustainable "infallible" claim. Most religions are just as wacky than mormonism yet mormons get labled weird because they adhere to the infallible claim.

The nativity story according to evangelicals is crazy, for example

Regardless of how powerful or united one believes groups like Bilderbergers, Bohemian Grove, etc. are these groups swear secrecy as to what goes on in their meetings. Why doesn't the British dude pester his political elite about why they don't come out and tell the public everything that goes on of a political nature????

I just watched the video with my 8 year old daughter. We didn't think it was that bad. I was rather impressed with Holland's responses to those very difficult and unexpected questions (however, if this guy did the same thing to the scientologists, then who ever in the COB that didn't do their research on the interviewer and his potential slant should be fired). The guy had an obvious bent, but I also think he was doing his job at asking probing questions people want answers to. If Romney gets the nomination then the Church had better expect a lot more hard questions like these, and not the soft ball questions that Mike Wallace and Larry King ask. Although not an apologetic work, I think it was far from an anti-mormon piece.

As a side note, I would really like to know more about this Strengthening the Member Committee. I have never heard of it, anybody know more about it?

It's a damn shame that someone like me wasn't in that MTC class that the BBC was interviewing. I was a vocal critic even when I was a missionary in the MTC, and I would have made us Mormons look good.

I just emailed the BBC asking to speak with the maker of the documentary about misinformation in the documentary. I told them that I am Mitt's 2nd cousin. We'll see if it works.

Per Elder Holland, it's primary focus is protecting members from polygamy. But the wikipedia article doesn't mention polygamy at all. Anyone here know information that backs up what Holland said?

yes, just what we need is someone who doesn't believe lying to the film maker about himself so he can then discuss misinformation about the church from his non believing and critical POV. Sounds wonderful. Maybe you could get SU and Woot to go along and we would really look good! Thanks for your efforts!

I'm not lying. I told the filmmaker that I'm a Mormon agnostic and that I'm disappointed in his portrayal of the Church and stupid interviews with polygamists.
