Bishop in my parents ward became widower 2 years ago. He has not been released. I had an argument with my parents over Christmas as to whether there is or should be a policy that required his release. I took the position that there is no rational reason for such a policy.
If a bishop's wife dies, does the bishop get released right way?

As I was talking with my friend and expressing shock that he was left in so long, he said that he had no problem with it. He said that it gave him something to focus on and his little ward rallied around him like champs, helping him with the kids, food, support, etc. I suspect that would have happened either way, but who was I to argue?Originally posted by Jacob View PostBishop in my parents ward became widower 2 years ago. Chris Williams. He and my father served together as bishops in the same stake. I know he wasn't released immediately. But he did remarry within a year and moved out of the neighborhood.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostDidn't it happen in the SLC area a few years ago? A little off-topic, but what did he do to get banned? I feel at home here (irregardles of Wuappy) and would just as soon not ever get banned."I'm going to go back to CUF now, where the censorship is less, the average IQ is higher, and we don't have to deal with so much of this nonsense. lol. Don't worry. You are not even remotely in danger of getting banned.Originally posted by The Fourth Nephite View PostA little off-topic, but what did he do to get banned? I feel at home here (irregardles of Wuappy) and would just as soon not ever get banned.

That's not a very rational argument. There may. E many good reasons it should not be a rule, but there are also other rational reasons to make it a rule.Originally posted by Jacob View PostBishop in my parents ward became widower 2 years ago.
