I am not arguing your numbers, but can you please provide some proof of the bolded statement above. I have never seen a distinction between welfare and humanitarian aid and wanted to see if I missed something. TIA"Friendship is the grand fundamental principle of Mormonism" - Joseph Smith Jr.

This was brought out in a thread where this was discussed ad nauseum.Originally posted by Sullyute View PostI am not arguing your numbers, but can you please provide some proof of the bolded statement above. Obviously I don't have the exact numbers. But I think these are reasonable ratios.
Fast offerings ~10% of tithing
Humanitarian aid ~.5% - .8% of tithing
Humanitarian aid is a special category, obviously a subset of what could be considered the church's "giving to the poor".
The humanitarian aid figure got published somewhere, and anti's have been going nuts with it making statements like "LDS gave less than 1% of its income to the poor."

I don't use the newordermormon site; I am more of a fan of FLAK-Further Light and Knowledge. I just keep finding myself at the site again and again because of the anger I find against the members of the Church. I don't have an issue with paying tithing. I can see how others would, though.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
