You and I belong to the same church but not the same religion. Well, since you're so convinced we don't belong to the same religion, I'm curious how you came to that determination. Thus, I have attempted to find where your line of demarcation is.Originally posted by nikuman View PostCut the bullshit Indy. Sometime I wonder if you aren't a lawyer.

Wait, do you really believe that all things being equal, someone who wears one pair of earrings is closer to the spirit than someone who wears two pairs?Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostYour religion doesn't require obedience?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I think Indy is admitting that his foul language and ill temper towards others alienate him from the Spirit, thereby disqualifying him to opine on matters of obedience and worthiness. At least that is what I got out of his most recent post.Originally posted by Moliere View PostWait, do you really believe that all things being equal, someone who wears one pair of earrings is closer to the spirit than someone who wears two pairs?

No, you're not. You're interested in proving a point with a series of rhetorically misleading questions, the answers to which you already know or should know and which are largely irrelevant. It's a bullshit trick usually reserved for asshole lawyers.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostWell, since you're so convinced we don't belong to the same religion, I'm curious how you came to that determination. In the event I'm wrong - which I'm almost assuredly not - I'm not interested in doing anything more than pointing out that your viewpoint doesn't represent church membership as a whole. Having done this already, I decline to play further.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

I believe that all things being equal, if someone deliberately chooses not to follow the standards, there is a greater likelihood (however small or great that might be) that they are deliberately choosing not to be obedient in other things. So the issue isn't the number of earrings, it's the underlying motivations and attitudes that led to the number.Originally posted by Moliere View PostWait, do you really believe that all things being equal, someone who wears one pair of earrings is closer to the spirit than someone who wears two pairs?

In Indy's religion, God is the old Western jerk with a gun who says "dance!" while he shoots at your feet. I doubt very many Mormons would be okay with the idea that obedience itself is what god wants more so than the salvation of his children through adherence to necessary conditions.

I own up to my shortcomings rather than trying to pawn it off as some enobling refusal to kowtow to micromanaging megalomaniacs who want wield supreme power over all aspects of my life.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI think Indy is admitting that his foul language and ill temper towards others alienate him from the Spirit, thereby disqualifying him to opine on matters of obedience and worthiness. I don't think I have ever known you to own up to your shortcomings. What are they? Or perhaps you can just link us to some of your online confessionals.

The game began when you declared that your religion is not my religion. Seeing as it was you that decided to initiate the playing, you are certainly more than free to stop at any time.Originally posted by nikuman View PostNo, you're not.
