  • FLDS fire sale

Has anyone been following this week's recent events down at the FLDS towns?

Apparently, they are in turmoil, folks jumping ship, hardliners retrenching and circling the wagons.

As part of the new shift in focus, Jeffs has issued some revelations that require the abandonment of all bicycles, trampolines, musical instruments, recreational vehicles, and other daily items.

There is a store near one of the compounds that is selling all the stuff. On KSL, they showed camera shots of what looked like hundreds of bikes, loads of pianos, guitars, toys, and some trampolines. However, what caught my eye were the 4 wheelers. Apparently, the FLDS were Yearning for some off-roading trails in Zion because they have amassed a nice little collection of 4 wheelers that are now for sale. I wonder how to find out how much they are going for at that store?

Would it be weird to own an FLDS 4-wheeler? According to the news story, Jeffs has ordered a cessation of all communication with the outside world (except for "business purposes"). Allegedly, the internet has been banned in that area (not sure how you ban the "internet," though) but they ARE selling their stuff.

Jeffs would be wise to order someone to create a website with some sort of shopping cart functionality and shipping.

        Another Mormon Reformation!!!

I wonder why children's toys are bad

        Edit: Yikes!

Wyler and Brower said the bans on toys and bicycles stems from printed declarations by Jeffs. He has taught that children should not be encouraged to play but should be put to work and, in the case of girls, be turned into mothers. "His purpose is to take all the joy out of life," Brower said.

Did they have a QB transfer as well?

There is another video with more extensive footage of the 4 wheelers. They had 2 or 3 decent looking Polarises for sale. I want one!

This saddens me. I spent about 18 mos. researching these people, specifically how property was used and distributed amongst them via the United Effort Plan Trust. These poor folks are emotionally and psychologically frightened almost all of the time. It's so sad that they now have to give up things that bring wholesome joy.

I know it's easy to poke fun at these people, but after learning more about them, I feel nothing but deep sorrow for them right now. We should have executed that mother fucker.

Anyone want a big, white, castle-looking house with a guest house? Texas has one they might be selling cheap.

Judge orders forfeiture of Texas polygamist ranch

A judge has ordered the forfeiture of a polygamist group's West Texas ranch to the state of Texas.

State District Judge Barbara Walther's order came Monday in Eldorado after the ranch owners failed to appear for the hearing.

The San Angelo Standard-Times reports Walther authorized the Schleicher County Sheriff's Office to enter the Yearning for Zion Ranch and inventory the property.

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints formerly owned the ranch. The Texas Attorney General's Office filed to seize the ranch in 2012, citing numerous sexual assaults of children committed there.

The state has prosecuted 12 male members of the polygamist sect, including leader Warren Jeffs. He is serving a life sentence plus 20 years for sexually assaulting two girls, ages 12 and 15.
