I get a kick out of this mentality. My parents said the same thing about bells when they were coming back in in the late 90s/early aughts. I'm just over 30 years old, and I've seen styles go from bells to skinny, to bells, to skinny. If the trend holds, I anticipate that we'll be back to bells in about 3-4 years, and people like GM will be saying this same thing about bell bottoms.

FTR, there are some women who look fantastic in skinny jeans.

When I was there, the debate circled around capris and the hip-hugging blue jeans made popular in the early 2000s. Bednar even said in a devotional, "I've had the misfortune of seeing far too many young ladies' "second cleavage"" around campus.
Not sure what you're seeing but girls in skinny jeans look good around these parts. Not my style for guys, but I don't find it offensive either.

Also, how did DDD get the reputation of being a skinny jeans hipster?

UPDATE: Careful googling for that BYU poster. All of the search results return really awful looking 70's porn images.

        I respectfully think you're stupid.

I think someone should point out their is a big difference between skinny jeans and tight jeans. Skinny jeans on the right person is good, tight jeans on most is bad.

              Love this quote from Clark:
“It is true that flip-flops and an unshaven face are not big things. But it is just like the stories of pride and greed in the Book of Mormon; failure to do the small things can, in a short period of time, lead to failure on the big things. Following the rules about the small things establishes a great spirit of obedience on the campus.”

Good for BYU-I. They have declared war upon the hipsters. I really think this is a bold pronouncement by the Church, through BYU-I, that hipsters aren't welcome here. Suddenly, it gives new meaning to the words of the hymn:

                    We wage no common war,
                    Cope with no common foe.
                    The enemy’s awake;
Who’s on the Lord’s side? Who?
Anyway, like most of the arbitrary wardrobe-restricting rules at BYU-I, this is just stupid. Before long, BYU-I is going to institute the burqa as the only acceptable form of female dress.

I don't consider those skinny jeans. Look at how they ride low on her hips, and as far as I can tell, aren't tapered as to hug her ankles as tightly as her thighs), and, well, they don't look like something that would show up in a film starring Anthony Michael Hall.

No, the skinny jeans in question are those that stay high on the hips, causing all but the anorexic to have muffin top and hug the entire leg like a scared child who sees his babysitter in skinny jeans. They are often accompanied by chuck taylor all-stars or vans slip ons, and a face bespeckled by acne.

They're nasty. They were nasty in the 80s, they are nasty today.

And DH, Bell bottoms might be butt-ass ugly, but they're not nasty.

There are low-rise skinny jeans, FYI. They are often accompanied by heels and an attractive woman.

Regardless, I think your two posts pretty well establish that you are opposed to skinny jeans on nasty people.

Lol. I think you're right. I simply haven't personally seen skinny jeans on someone who I'd like to see skinny jeans on.

Texas + skinny jeans = bad. I can understand that.
