It wasn't. Peggy stories rarely are.

How is this news? As far as I know, this has been the church's policy ever since I was in college, at least.

Also, I thought this was funny.

The flier gave the church’s address, then urged the neighborhood’s children to "wear costumes" but added, "please no masks or cross-gender dressing."

The focus on gender was "fear-mongering and hate driven," said Smith, who has lived up the street from the meetinghouse for five years. "I have several friends who are transgender or drag queens for a profession."
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

is it Church policy? The CHOI allegedly doesn't mention it.

It would be a good idea if you were a bishop and someone from the media contacted you to ask about something, that you don't lie and say it's church policy.

I have a friend who is a bishop that loves to dress up as a woman for Halloween. He goes all out.

The old one specifically did. I haven't scoured the new one.

Did it? I don't recall. I definitely recall the no-mask policy, though.

Did it extend to all instances of "cross gender" stuff? The harry Potter example seemed a bit extreme. My guess is that the intent was to discourage flamboyant drag queen stuff.

I guess I need to rethink my Carmen Miranda outfit for this weekend's ward party. Now what am I going to do with all this extra fruit?

Yes, I read it (but I got bored and didn't get to the point at the bottom ).

Regardless, whether its CHOI level policy or not, this "policy" has been implemented in every ward I've been in for the last 12 years or so.

I'm not shy about criticizing Church policies or stupid members, but this is much ado about absolutely nothing.

I also think it's a bit silly that, for instance, a girl can't come dressed as Harry Potter and a guy can't come dressed as a witch.

A private entity invited the general public to an event. They asked those that might come to observe a couple of rules for THAT event.

This Smith lady is extrapolating a bunch of nonsense.

If she doesn't want to go, fine.

But WTF is with her comment about her son wearing pink and losing friends? That this INVITATION was fear-mongering and hate driven?

                        Talk about looking for offense.

She needs to grow up and shut up.

Really? I have never seen that.

                          What a dumb rule.

We had a baby girl as baby Jesus one year in the primary nativity pageant.

And, really, what does it matter? It's what the ward requested of those that were INVITED to join in a fun event.
