The ACLU wasn't around yet. They would have had a hay day. Plenty of what we would call unconstitutional was fine back then. Not only the slave issue as has been discussed in this thread, but look at women's rights and what they could and couldn't do. Workers rights were not recognized. It is almost like there was a different constitution back then compared to what we have now.

No, it was all the activist, democrat judges...
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

You say that like it is bad. The US is a much better place to live now compared to back in the mid 1800s.

It really was different then. The 14th amendment didn't exist and so the Bill of Rights was thought to apply only to Congress. [Edit: That's off the top of my head. It's been a long time since Con Law. ]

            I know.

I was poking fun at the idiotic talk from the right of activist judges destroying the constitution.

You will read that sentiment from exceptionally few people on this site. Your joke falls flat in this discussion, but feel free to post something about the topic if you wish.

Glad to hear it, and I have.

It does, not as good as Blue Springs, though. (Full disclosure: I graduated from Blue Springs HS). In all seriousness, both BS and LS have great public schools, some of the best in the state (BS is #1 and LS is #3, IIRC).
