Reminds me of a flashback of my youth. I grew up east of the Mississippi, and when the DC temple was built it was big news. My Mom was furious after reading a negative Op-Ed in the local paper with the headline that went something like "New Mormon temple - A part of Disneyland". Since I was a kid, I thought the headline was a compliment; "Disneyland! What could be more cool than being a part of Disneyland?".

Decent report on the temple and the church in Yvelines. One of the guys in the video (Olivier Robin) was a brand new member when I got to Versailles. I used to visit him in his small dorm room where there wasn't enough space for more than 4 people to sit.

Why did it take 6 years to get it done?

One of the urologists I work with has a brother in law who was hired to do the carpet for the Paris temple. My associate went over last week to help lay carpet. Maybe they are behind schedule because they have to hire MD's to do the finish work. He showed me some pics he took while working there. The stained glass is amazing.

We are going to Paris/Normandy this April. Looks like we will be too early for the dedication.

We'll be in London that week. How far away do you suppose they shut down church for this dedication?

The DNews article said the dedication would be broadcast across France and to French speaking units in Europe.

Actually, GBH told the French members back in 1998 that they were starting the process to build a temple, which included them trying to find a place to build it. It took something like 12 years to finally buy land on which to build it. They tried several places but could never close on the land.

There was a lot of opposition to the current location, but ultimately they modified the plans and such to the point that the government couldn't mix it based on any legal grounds. The locals still seem to not be happy with it.

We got to do a photo op while on tour. I think they are going to use a recording we made for the open house too.

Sorry about the non-rotation. I don't know how to fix that.

P.S. I love how the bushes at the entrance look just like they are taken from the Versailles gardens. The water lillies are also cool.
