Was or are Ford, Carnegie, Gates, Buffet, Lincoln, Roosevelt et. al. "intellectuals".

Is Obama the only "intellectual" President we have ever had?

Inquiring minds would like to know.
I think it usually refers to people who dedicate themselves to intellectual pursuits. A high IQ is a necessary but not sufficient requirement. Generally speaking, business pursuits do not qualify as intellectual pursuits. I certainly wouldn't consider Warren Buffet or Bill Gates intellectuals. Maybe I'm wrong about that. Lincoln and Roosevelt are a little closer...as long as we are talking about Teddy. As far as presidents go, I don't think any modern president qualifies. Do we have to go all the way back to Wilson? Maybe Obama is the closest since (because he taught law and wrote 2 not-so-intellectual books)? But he hasn't dedicated himself to intellectual pursuits like a Wilson did.

For realz???!!! One wants to argue that JoSmith was an intellectual? Sorry but I don't believe or have the opinion that any moron can also be an intellectual at the same time.

As far as Utah weirdness goes....there's plenty of that to go around. I noticed while living there for one year (and a half...too long) that peeps from Utah irregardless of their religious and/or non-religious background..were just plain "weird"; even those who'd been in Utah say for more than ten years...socially awkward/WEIRD

Guerrero, please stop by Ellis Island and introduce yourself. Also, please note that CUF is more of an Old Testament site than a New Testament one, meaning that attacking-style posts like yours above are often met with equal venom. As a final thought, talking about who is, or is not, an intellectual when you use non-words like (ir)regardless sort of, you know, like, automatically, make you look like a fool/tool.

Maybe? I'm not a fan of the President, but you can't become a full-time professor at the University of Chicago with out actually being an intellectual.
