Yes. Because of the gaping void left in the Church due to the tightly controlled and mind-numbing Gospel Doctrine curriculum, Jared is going to try to fill the space with an "advanced" gospel doctrine.A Mormon president could make a perfectly patriotic, competent, inspiring leader. But not Mitt Romney. He is a husked void. --David Javerbaum

In a highly interesting turn of events to the recent kerfuffle over a perceived 'hit piece' on John Dehlin, it appears Daniel Peterson has been removed as editor at FARMS Mormon Stories Review. He then resigned as Director of Advancement. I wonder whether this has anything to do with Dehlin's study result showing one of the biggest reasons people leave the church is due to bad (and often Pharisaical) apologetics?
This is quite an intriguing development.

I will take this opportunity again to reiterate my belief that Dan Peterson is one of the worst human beings alive in the world today. Does one person really have that much influence over another's decision to walk away? Perhaps, but I'm skeptical.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostAlthough I don't think DCP is a horrible human being, I do think he is Counterproductive. Has there ever been an apologist who drives more people away than DCP? Probably not within Mormondom, anyway.
I'm sure this will be celebrated by a certain segment, but that will reek of irony."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I do. When people are clinging to a shred of faith and they go to DCP's discussion board for advice/clarity/help, and DCP is a royal dick (and then you read much of DCP's material, which is equally dickish, and often simply an attack on the credentials of those who think differently), then yes, I think DCP plays a role in their exit. It may be the straw that broke the camel's back, but that's still counterproductive.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostDoes one person really have that much influence over another's decision to walk away?
