  • Ward Choir Music

I am the assistant ward choir director in my ward, which, as I'm sure you can imagine, is a very stressful and time-intensive calling. Our director is gone fairly frequently, which gives me a chance to lead practices, and sometimes our performances. Generally, I just follow the director's choices of music, but today I was browsing through some music and found this:

    http://www.copypackmusic.com./IfYou'reHappy.html

For those of you too lazy to click on the link, it is a choir adaptation of "If You're Happy and you Know It". Highlights include the women singing the melody as the men chant "We are happy, we are happy", as well as a brief switch to a solemn version of "If You Chance to Meet a Frown". I haven't seen the full version, so I'm not sure if we would actually get the congregation to stand up and clap their hands, stomp their feet, shout hooray!, etc.

I am seriously considering getting this and springing it on the ward some week. My motivation is mostly to see the shocked and uncomfortable faces of the congregation, as well as the Bishop. I figure there's not much he can say though, as the song is straight from the (primary) hymn book.

I'm sorry, but that's probably one of the worst choir arrangements I've ever heard. I'm all for progressive choir numbers in church, but I think the goal should be good music, something that arrangement is not.

Maybe we can get BYU singers to sing it at the football games though.
Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia
God forgives many things for an act of mercy
    Alessandro Manzoni

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Good afternoon. By integrating all functions, including the youtube mp3 converter, you can now download audio from YouTube in just one click. This can save you a lot of time, especially when downloading from a complete list of links at once. So I advise you to try youtube mp downloader? A very useful thing if you need to download a video and convert it to mp3.

I don't think you can download music (i.e. sheet music) from Youtube. You can definitely download music from places like Sally DeFord and her stuff is generally pretty good.

Here is a great resource for a ward chorister. He put these on the web after I retired from ward choir directing, but if I get called back into it after I turn 60 Ron and Sally DeFord will be my main music providers. http://www.ronaldstaheli.com/

Cool. I'll pass this on to our new choir director.

Agreed. Real men write their own chorales.
