You might be right, but don't tell my wife that as she thinks it will be online. The last one was online within 24 hours.

A proper funeral is ~1 hour long.

The current leadership of your stake have their priorities completely out of whack if they can't reschedule a training that is not live. Either that, or they did not care for that man. That is the impression that will be received, loudly and clearly.

What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Yes. That is the only requirement I have given my wife in the event of my death. In her case, she asked me to have a closed casket. She is afraid she won't look good when she is dead.

That is not intended to show disrespect to the grieving family.

I have attended too many 3 hr funerals where all the children talk and cry, and the grandkids sing 3 musical numbers. All that stuff needs to happen at a private wake, and not at a public funeral.

My wife is Relief Society president and has her baby shower on Saturday. She has convinced all the leadership women in the ward to ditch WWLT and come to her shower instead. Won't it show up online later anyway?

Actually, Tick, this would make you a hero while also guaranteeing that you wouldn't have any significant callings for the next decade. Win/Win.

She's got a point. I have yet to see a dead person look good.

My Mom always said that if her funeral went more than an hour, she would get out of the casket and read us the riot act. When my sister told that story in her remarks, she added that we are going to go 1:15, 'cuz she really wanted to see what Mom really do that. She got a polite chuckle. We went about 1:10 and Mom didn't rise up out of the casket.

A former member of our SP (15 years ago) passed away last week. His funeral is scheduled for this Saturday.

Our Stake just sent out an e-mail letting everyone know.

They also let everyone know that the family is aware and is understanding that Priesthood leadership wont be in attendance because of the WWLT.

                      Bull Shit.
Marge, may I play Devil's Advocate for a moment?

Tick, I don't mean to be insensitive. I don't know how well known or well liked this former member of the SP was, but to me it seems odd to me that the Stake would reschedule the WWLT for a funeral. Practically every person in every leadership calling in the stake is required to be at those things. That's a ton of people to rearrange for one funeral, even if he was a former member of the SP (15 years ago). Even if they could change the time, I imagine the time has been on the Stake Calendar for weeks, if not months by now.

Besides, its just a training. If people value the former SP's funeral over the training, they'll skip the training. I personally don't have any intention of being there.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
