Mormon Temple Movie Actor, Fred Hunting Removed From Film
If this is true (btw, I doubt that it is), it's interesting to me that the church would go to the pains of "the removal of his face" -- I assume that means some digital changes to make Apostle John's face not look like Fred Hunting's -- based on Hunting's involvement in Prop 8 and/or a signature on a petition to the FP. Or is this simply a case of a change from Hunting's face to Jimmer's?
This is Fred Hunting:
Question by Salamander Society: Why was Fred Hunting (Who played the role of Apostle John in the 1990 version of the Temple Film.) removed from the current film?
Answer by Church Employee: I don't know "for sure" why Fred Hunting's face was removed.
I know that he came out against the Church's position on same sex marriage during the recent California proposition. He signed a petition that was sent to the First Presidency, asking them to change their position on same gender attraction.
I have no idea if any Church discipline was taken "against him" for his position, or even if he a practicing member of the LDS Church. But the removal of his face took place sometime within the last couple of weeks - though they may have been working on it for a little while.
I think that's the most likely explanation as to why he was removed, though I've seen nothing official. But I suspect that was the cause.
Comment by Salamander Society: A Google search reveals that indeed a "Fred Hunting" signed RECONCILIATION PETITION REQUEST TO THE FIRST PRESIDENCY OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS which was delivered on 11/04/2010.
