Actually only 5 or 6 people have explicitly stated their opinion on it and i don't see much of a pattern. What am I missing?Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostIt's interesting to note the people in this thread who are okay with scalping the tickets that were meant to be given free. Or not.
Or are you focusing on finderson and Scottie because you perceive them to be inactives?
I don't know about blue hair or mUUser, but they seem to be ok with it and arent they both active? I guess I don't see what you are seeing here.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Speaks volumes that I didn't even have to explain myself on this before you knew exactly what I was getting at. For what it's worth, I have no idea how muuser feels about the church (his comment was more of a light-hearted nature anyway), but bluehair for one, has never been shy when comes to criticism of the church - that is, unless I'm confusing him with someone else. I have no idea, and couldn't give a rat's ass, if he's active or not.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostActually only 5 or 6 people have explicitly stated their opinion on it and i don't see much of a pattern. I'm trying to understand this statement:
Free tickets doesn't mean that "everyone" will have the opportunity to attend. Do stupid people write this stuff?"Tickets to the Christmas Concert are offered at no cost to allow everyone the opportunity to attend. Attempts to profit from this free offering are inappropriate."
And won't the fact that the tickets are being bought by people who are motivated to attend (rather than just going unused by people who aren't big David Archuletta and/or MoTab fans) mean that MORE people will probably attend?
And why should the Church begrudge a small profit to people who need a little extra money more than they need concert tickets during tough economic times?

I didn't know that about blue hair. I thought he was active, along with mUUser, which is why I wasnt sure i was seeing the pattern you were noting. If what you say is true, then I guess I now see what you are saying.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostSpeaks volumes that I didn't even have to explain myself on this before you knew exactly what I was getting at. I guess your original post is saying "people that criticize the Church here don't seem to care about the ticket scalping."Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

It's amusing to me in threads such as this to see how predictable certain people are. Cardiac (who is one of my favorite people on this site, btw) fell right in line as well.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI didn't know that about blue hair. I like to think that if the Church had instead issued a statement saying that they wholeheartedly support the God-given free agency of the poor and needy to sell their David Archuletta tickets in order to brighten their kids' Christmas with a few presents that I would be agreeing with the Church in this thread.

Some might say that your post was equally predictable. Mine as well.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostIt's amusing to me in threads such as this to see how predictable certain people are. I mean it.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostThanks SMR.
I guess I missed the part where it said the the people selling the tickets were poor and needy. Perhaps I should read it again.I like to think that if the Church had instead issued a statement saying that they wholeheartedly support the God-given free agency of the poor and needy to sell their David Archuletta tickets in order to brighten their kids' Christmas with a few presents that I would be agreeing with the Church in this thread.I'm like LeBron James.

I don't know. If I won some tickets in the lottery and couldn't make it to the concert I sure wouldn't go to the trouble of putting them on ksl.com. I would give them to somebody in my ward.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI guess I missed the part where it said the the people selling the tickets were poor and needy. I think it's easy for relatively wealthy people to say "How terrible for people to be profiting from this!" when we have no idea why some people would decide to try to sell their tickets. There are a lot of unemployed people these days, no?

To be honest, you're preaching to the choir a bit here. I can see both sides of this particular issue. I agree with your point, but I can also understand where the church is coming from in terms of their disappointment.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostI don't know.
