So you're discounting the numerous accounts of spirit beings thanking those who performed the ordinances on their behalf?

I hope so, some of us need a little facial hair to conceal the old double chin.

You have completely misunderstood my distinction.

I'm noting (again) your absolutist use of the word "the" (as in "the teaching").

This is a legit question, although it's more than I can get into today. Suffice it to say, it's one I think Church members should be pondering.

Ultimately, being sealed means being sealed to God.

Exactly. How do we find out?

Is a sealing it like an alliance where we are protected from outside forces and powers (species?) we shouldn't/can't know about in our current probation?

Weren't members of the church at one point sealed to the current prophet of the time? I seem to remember reading about that and how it was done away with in the very early 1900s. I'll need to see if I can find that reference.

"Commune" is an interesting word choice.

Our birth by his hand, and God being our father, is not enough of a link to warrant communion and an inheritance?

Not everyone can inherit everything, so what we must inherit, is an ability to fish and not just be given a fish every so often.

I have always assumed (no doctrine, just assumption) that it is part of the convenant making process. We submit to God and willfully join ourselves to our families and to Him and so inherit blessings to which we would otherwise not be entilted. It is an expression of the scope of our agency and the importance of submitting to God, IOW.
