    18 I might have rendered a plainer translation to this, but it is sufficiently plain to suit my purpose as it stands. It is sufficient to know, in this case, that the earth will be smitten with a curse unless there is a welding link of some kind or other between the fathers and the children, upon some subject or other—and behold what is that subject? It is the baptism for the dead. For we without them cannot be made perfect; neither can they without us be made perfect. Neither can they nor we be made perfect without those who have died in the gospel also; for it is necessary in the ushering in of the dispensation of the fulness of times, which dispensation is now beginning to usher in, that a whole and complete and perfect union, and welding together of dispensations, and keys, and powers, and glories should take place, and be revealed from the days of Adam even to the present time. And not only this, but those things which never have been revealed from the foundation of the world, but have been kept hid from the wise and prudent, shall be revealed unto babes and sucklings in this, the dispensation of the fulness of times.

    I like the Prophet's grand view of things.

      The reason I posted this was to tap into the cumulative brain power that is here. I'm hoping for a clearer definition of what is the purpose of family, linking hearts of the fathers, etc., that keeps the earth's creation from being utterly wasted at the coming of the Lord.

      The easy answer is the work for the dead, but isn't the majority of that work to be accomplished during the millennium? Even at that point, anyone, can research data for anyone, it doesn't need to be specifically for ones family members. There's got to be more to the familial link, and it's way beyond primary songs that teach kids to bond with their family unit.

      The best I can imagine in the CK is that my parents are the same age as their parents, I'll be the same age as my parents, and I'll be the same age as my kids and grandkids. As a few millennia pass, we'll be more comrades of a long ago mission, rather than a thriving family unit, as my spouse and I have continue to have more kids and attend to the needs of the more recent prodigy. It's quite possible your kids today will be as relevant as your missionary companions are to you today. (not even on my radar, and actually I'm very comfortable with never associating with them.) Imagine if your married to more than 1 person... that really messes up the hearth-some heart.

      So, to make a point, we really know very little of the big plan, and our human reasoning is nothing to make a stand on, that's why we have the Spirit to be with Us, to guide us with just enough feedback to keep us going in the right direction, till at some point we are able to obtain further light and knowledge. I'm not against Forever Families, I just don't trend it as a testimony validation.

        Mike Waters is a prophet.

        BOM = changed intimately by the intro corrections
        POGP = deemphasized this summer
        FF = active members not knowing what it means

        How soon before we turn into protestants?

          One of those guys seems to have facial hair. Is that allowed?

            I've been prophesying these things too. In addition all the deification, God was once a mortal man like us and someday we'll be Gods like him, creating worlds through celestial sex. That will go away slowly too.

            The difference is that MW thinks its bad and a sign of an apostate church, I think it's good and a sign of an evolving church becoming more in line with true doctrine.

                  I'm glad I wasn't the only one that didn't know. I tried to put together a lot of words that started with an F and none of them were very churchy.

                    I find the idea of all humankind being sealed to be more appealing than the the idea of sealings of contemporary, Western, nuclear families.

                            Isn't that the teaching (at least concerning those who enter into the covenant)? That vicarious temple work will someday be completed for everyone who's ever lived on the earth, etc.?

                              Again, what does it mean to be sealed to someone?

                                I believe we are eternal beings and are all connected, but don't believe there are any strings or conditions placed on it. To me baptisms for the dead and temple work are busy work intended for the benefit of the person doing the ordinance, not the person receiving it.
