nice dodge, this isn't about the Toscanos, they have their ax to grind and it isn't mine. Do you know of any official church publication that discusses Heavenly Mother?Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

No, but I haven't spent any time searching for one. I do know there was a fair amount of class discussion on multiple occasions in my Indiana ward on this topic and no one got wrists slapped, records purged or lightning-bolted.Originally posted by pellegrino View Postnice dodge, this isn't about the Toscanos, they have their ax to grind and it isn't mine. The belief is there and I don't think it's just lip service. It provides a lot of hope to women of the church that they can obtain such a high stature in the here-after. I know this doesn't resolve SU's issues here (nothing can resolve those issuesOriginally posted by pellegrino View PostWhile we believe in a Heavenly Mother, that doesn't really resolve SU's issue here. Some would contend that the belief is little more than lip service, as any actual discussion of Heavenly Mother is stifled by the patriarchal powers of the church and can even result in church discipline. Just ask Paul and Margaret Toscano.
) but I just wanted to point out that we are more progressive than many other religions and I wanted to give credit to Mormonism for that.
The Gospel Principles book doesn't expressly state it but it is obvious in this passage that we believe it:Originally posted by pellegrino View Postnice dodge, this isn't about the Toscanos, they have their ax to grind and it isn't mine. God is not only our Ruler and Creator; He is also our Heavenly Father. All men and women are literally the sons and daughters of God. “Man, as a spirit, was begotten and born of heavenly parents, and reared to maturity in the eternal mansions of the Father, prior to coming upon the earth in a temporal [physical] body” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith [1998], 335).

Who preaches that? We don't really do we? Well not in public. I'll grant that there is the occasional vague reference to heavenly parents and the like. But when was the last time it was mentioned in conference, for example?Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostNot only that, but we also preach that women can become Gods.Last edited by Jacob; 10-13-2010, 09:15 AM.

It's our own version of the Torah Code. You take every fifth character out of the 2010 BYU Football Media Guide and do an ASCII-based Fourier Transform.Originally posted by Jacob View PostWho preaches that? We don't really do we? Well not in public.

True. I'll have to look through some hymns to see if their lyrics (which went through the same process) should be considered authoritative.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostIt got through correlation and was put in the 1985 version of the hymnbook.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

I'm not sure how that one made it through correlation. That is not something the Church teaches.
