  • Would you be out if Polygamy is reinstated?

Lets say all the gay marriage stuff get legalized then polygamy (meaning adults marrying adults). Would you be out? Lets also say that the practice would be for just those that needed/wanted it (ie no one would be "called")

It seems to me that for most of the members it would mean very little.

It is one of the few things that would have me out with no further questions asked, unless I had one hell of an angelic visitation.

So if I say yes, that means I believe the prophets are inspired, and this is the church of God, unless they say/do something I don't like? How is that logical?

Really no questions asked even if it didn't even affect you?

It would be logistically impossible for every member to participate, and so given the premise of it being up to individual members to decide if and when, I would choose not to and still remain in the church.

I voted I'd be out. But I recognize that this is not a conclusion that is reached rationally. If I am so convinced that polygamy is wrong/uninspired that I would leave the church after it's re-institution, then reason would leave me with no other conclusion but that I should just get it over with and leave now. I'm one of those binary people who can't allow for prophets to be so wrong on something so big.

I also think you are wrong about most members. I do think that most active members believe that it was divinely instituted and that it will one day be re-instituted. But I think a lot of the people are like me, though not publicly. They are fine with the idea as a past practice, but not as a current one. I shouldn't say "most members." I will say "a good chunk of active members."

No questions asked. I won't have my name removed, probably, and I probably won't be antagonistic, but that is how strongly I believe it was a mistake in the first place.

                Interesting question and response

I suspect there would be many, many angelic visions by members on this subject. I doubt that any two of them would be alike, however

As I've stated before, I struggle with faith.

However, discussing this purely as a hypothetical and not a reality, I think the reinstitution of polygamy would have zero effect on me so long as it wasn't done as a callling or mandate and was left purely up to individuals.

It would affect all of us. We'd all have to answer questions about it, even if we weren't participating in it ourselves.

Point taken of course we would probably just add it to the questions we already get about polygamy, WOW and garments. It would affect all of us just not that much IMHO.

Question before I vote: Would I be required to tell my wife that I would be participating?
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

Now is this Brigham Young's polygamy or Josephs Smith's polyandry?

Surprisingly I don't really think that it would bother me that much either way as long as I or my wife are not asked to participate. I actually have a harder time with 90 year old men pulling down 6 figure stipends with the widow's mite than polygamy (but that is/was an entirely different thead).

All parties have to approve of the situation.
