Look, I'm as solid and devout as anyone. I am all in, way all in. But c'mon man. One less meeting should be hailed as awesome.
I was looking up some older conferences a little while back and landed on Spencer W. Kimball's first conference as prophet. Man they were meeting on Fridays too, so conference was six general sessions.

Professor Gurcharan Gill dismissed my freshman year (1970) Friday morning calculus class, permitting students to watch a conference session on the classroom TVs.

A bunch of changes dropped in the handbook: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/...dates?lang=eng

most interesting to me is that they have officially sanctioned using other versions of the bible with links to those other versions:

I just don't think it should be this complex, I'm going with the simpler version.
            • Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind (and strength).
            • Love your neighbor as yourself.

You'd take out the bishops hotline for reporting abuse?

Follow the first two and you don't have any abuse.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Clark Gilbert seems to be a good ideological fit for a Oaks led church.

Gilbert was instrumental in creating the Pathways program. In my view, that program is one of the Church's greatest gifts to the world. I judge Gilbert by that.

If it wasn't for Pathways, I wouldn't have a BA and an MA now. I wouldn't be a School Psychologist, I wouldn't be living in Idaho next to the grandkids.

I went to college for 8 years and have zero debt from my undergrad thanks to Pathways. (I had debt from my MA, but we have since paid that off.)

That's a very powerful endorsement. Congratulations on having the motivation and willpower to succeed.
