Damn. Not entirely unexpected considering his age but still sad.

I really have nothing but great things to say about president Nelson and his leadership. He’ll be missed.

Not to disrespect other prophets I have lived through, but having experienced the church under the leadership of President Nelson feels especially profound. I know the media has thus far been focusing on his push to eliminate nicknames of the Church, but he was so much more. I feel truly blessed to be member under his leadership.

            Inevitable, but darn it.

This was sad news to wake up to. I loved President Nelson and I'm grateful for the life he lived and how he led our church. He published this a couple weeks ago in Time and I think it's worth a read. His last message to the world.

Imagine how different our world could be if more of us were peacemakers—building bridges of understanding rather than walls of prejudice—especially with those who may see the world differently than we do. I have seen bitter divisions soften when neighbors chose to listen to one another with respect rather than suspicion. Even small acts—like reaching out across lines of faith, culture, or politics—can open doors to healing. There is power in affording others the human dignity that all of God’s children deserve.

MSW audible today. Live spoken word eulogizing Pres. Nelson and ending with extended God Be with You.

Very sad to hear this. It’s remarkable how each President of the church has reshaped the church and President Nelson is no exception. From the explosion of temple building to the BYU Medical School to just some beautifully simple Christlike messages of peace and love. He’ll be missed very much.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

What an amazing bit of punctuation to the end of an exemplary life. Just re-read it. All the more relevant with the happenings in Michigan today.

I am not sure how he could possibly be replaced. Very sad day for the Church.

I think people felt similarly with the passing of Hinkley. And Kimball before that. Like an analogy I heard in church that has stayed with me, members leaving a ward can leave deep footprints in the sand of a beach, but the tide always brings more sand in to fill the holes. Or something like that.

Every time we've left a ward, the members we left behind preferred the new sand.
