    a wounded bird flutters

Can someone tell me the exact origins of the statement:

"a wounded bird always flutters" or "it is always the wounded bird that flutters"

I believe it is "shot birds flutter".

First time I heard it was after the infamous Julie Beck "Mothers Who Know" talk. Supposedly, she was discussing the controversy following the talk with one of the GA's and he gave this reply. No word on who the GA was, but my money is on Packer.

I thought it was "Hit pidgeons flutter" I can't get a google hit for any of the terms except "the wounded bird flutters" pulls up a few.

"the wounded bird flutters" is a an Old English metaphor. Emily Dickinson uses it in one of her texts but I'm hoping to find more exact origins ... ?

I guess that means President Packer is well read.

            Mathew 10:29, 30 etc.?

Could be, but I can't help but think that it's origin comes from someplace else.
