This program has killed my desire to do any missionary work.

    • From Priesthood today.

      1. Social Media is the greatest tool Satan has put forth in these days.

      2. We should not be in chat rooms unless related to our jobs or church (my interpretation: BYU chat is OK. Ute chat is verboten).

      3. Black dresses are in fashion now. This has led to many women wearing black bras to the temple, and wearing them. As husbands, we need to remind our wives to bring white bras to the temple.

      4. Go shopping with your wife for her clothes, and have her do the "bend test" to make sure "everything" isn't on display.

Whenever I hear someone say these kind of things I want to ask them why the church uses it? Is the leadership of the church so silly as to fall for Satan's tricks?

        • Today is Stake Conference. We stayed home. I made breakfast for Gidget in bed and took care of the girls all morning.

Right now I am checking Twitter every 5 minutes to see about injury updates for my fantasy football teams trying to forget about that game last night.

Someone is paying a little too much attention to what lies underneath a woman's clothing. Was it the same guy who made all four points? Those last two. . . maybe reveal a scary reality about the man who said them.

First you tell someone to wait 30 minutes for help and now you miss Stake Conference? Our BYU season is doomed!

I know. I also missed our Stake Leadership Training meeting yesterday before the game because I was replacing our water heater.

How awesome is it that your bye-week fell on the first Sunday of the NFL season? Tender mercies, my friend. Tender mercies.

                  • My church didn't even mention 9-11 today.

our bishop made mention of it in his opening remarks and it was also mentioned in priesthood opening exercises, but that was it.

the funny thing is that tonight they're having a "standards night" for the youth. you'd think someone would have had the sense to say "hmm, maybe we should move that to another night"

Gone are the days when we could just call one of the dads.
We have that rule too -- I think it's churchwide -- but in a pinch our primary leaders tell us if you leave the classroom door open the entire time then it's OK for a brother to teach by himself.

                        • We were treated to a badly butchered summary of current science thought on the formation of the earth and evolution of life contrasted with the real story from Genesis.

Second counselor in my ward is a fireman. He was conducting today and wore his full dress uniform, making a few references. I thought that was awesome.

My lesson today will spend a bit of time on it.

That would be very hard to sit through.

I often wonder if I am doing something wrong. I taught the same lesson two weeks ago, only I made it clear we can believe this only symbolically, and when asked after class I actually said I believes it to be myth and that I subscribed to the theory of evolution generally. Nobody shot me for that.
