They wanted to know how the work is progressing in other countries and what's going on.
I went to a small branch in NZ in the same area. It was Napier I think. My friend and I went to NZ right after college graduation and went to church in Napier because it was one of his dad's favorite areas on his mission. We were traveling in a rented camper van and slept in the church's parking lot the night before.

I attended church on Easter Island today. It was fun and interesting. Learned about charity and how to welcome inactives when they show up at church. Met some interesting people. Well worth it.

Three dogs showed up at the chapel but only one came inside.

Wow, I didn't think many people lived on Easter Island, and certainly not enough to establish a branch. I envision a small chapel filled with those huge stone heads. Very cool you were able to visit.

There are about 5000-6000 people living here. Plus, a few thousand tourists. The branch president told us there are about 125 members of record on the island but only about 110 still live here. Of that number about 25 are active. 24 people attended this morning, which included my wife, daughter and me. Church was in a small but modern building. Not a traditional chapel. There are two full time elders assigned here and a senior couple assigned as well.

            • I learned that even the most distracted, ADHD kids will sit, enthralled, when you teach Lesson 20: "Joseph Smith is tarred and feathered."

I also learned that JS talked with a whistle the rest of his life after getting his tooth chipped during said Tar & Feathering.

I also learned that high atop the scale of cool treats to bring are Kinder Chocolates.
