This is why I never invite missionaries over when I have nonmember friends over. Keeping those two parties separate makes for a larger pool of friends.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

In sacrament meeting I learned that Jesus repented. He set the example for us in all things, so he must have repented too.

And I get that. I really do. Thus the whole snake and turtle story. I took them for their work and rolled the dice. Like Wuap, I tend to get a little frustrated with the typical missionary effort. These two young men had been had been in our house a few weeks prior a few weeks prior trying to talk us into setting a date, something that I've been asked to do as a ward missionary as well. I hate the set a date program and I refuse to try and corner members into the commitment. There are other ways to encourage and motivate people. So we refused to set a date and told the Elders that we would do missionary work in our own way at our own pace.

I can even forgive them for going against my request for no proselytizing were it not for the fact that they did it so poorly. The situation was just not conducive for trying to force a first discussion down someone's throat. But they ignored all of the evidence and continued to make sure that they "did their job," regardless.

In the end, the family was left with a much more positive impression with my wife's stepping in and putting a stop to things than with any message that the Elder's tried to leave with them. So we've got that going for us.

Given the wonderful communication infrastructure the church has, all future church meetings should be done via satellite where we are instructed by prophets, seers and revelators.

I think this is solid proof that Jesus was married. I can apologize a thousand times for something I was right about. Keep the peace, Jesus. Keep the peace.

Maybe Jesus will repent of that as well.

                    • Today I learned, via the Valiant 9 class I teach, that:

1 – Homeschooled kids will make a lot more money when they grow up than non-homeschooled kids. This was relayed to the class by the home schooled kid.
In response to this I learned

2 – Kids that go to the charter school will get into college while the kids that go to the local elementary school will not. This was relayed to the class by the two charter school students.

                      And

3 – The local elementary school kids don’t get what the big deal is.

We had a visitor today who is a former GA, Retired Army General, and lives in the same ward as Brother Reid in Washington DC. He's known Harry for years, and they are great friends. The tone of th HP Group got a little dark as the token white sheet Republican started asking questions about Reid's politics.

It would have gotten terribly dark if I had been there. Wonderful husband, father I can buy and would have no problem disputing the guy on.

He is also a wonderful liar, manipulator and yet a dunce. Can you be a great guy and still have those character traits?

All hell broke loose when two brethern yelled at each other about the importance of knowing whether or not Elohim has a Father. They both ended up apologizing. Good Times.

Along with this lesson today doesn't eternal progression and being limited to a certain kingdom after death contradict each other?
