    Worship of Diety

I have long wondered about the purpose of worship when related to religious activities.

Is the concept of worship a man-made tenet or divine from God?

What does the object of worship gain?

Conversely, what does the worshiper gain?

    What is considered worship?

I don't view attendance at a church meeting to be worship. I look at it as something that is more. I also have viewed the word in general as something negative or unhealthy(thinking of how it is used culturally: Hero worship, etc).

What is your take on worship and what does it mean to you?

It's interesting how religious characterizations are often positive in a religious setting but negative outside of one. Just as worshiping god is viewed positively by those who do so, worshiping anything other than god is seen negatively. Religion itself is only positive when it is about god. Atheism, science, environmentalism, nascar, football, and a bevy of other beliefs or pastimes are often characterized as religions, and nearly always negatively so.

An exception might be the "altar of freedom", perhaps because freedom is considered to be similarly sacred.

Worship as a concept or act can be neutral, negative or positive. For me it is the process by which I seek to learn the mind and will of God.

So mind control, but not in the way that I assume RF meant.

              Freedom is my god.

People worship at freedom's alter, which is right and well, but seldom do those worshipers discuss the quality of one's freedom. Even the prisoner on death row enjoys a kind of freedom, still in control of his thoughts, his words, even when and if he might choose to pleasure himself, but it isn't a high quality freedom. We are all prisoners of one sort or another, prisoners of limited physical bodies, prisoners of class, race and gender, prisoners of our times. The quality of one's freedom varies. It isn't enough to be a champion of freedom. I think we also need to be champions of freedom's betterment.

Mankind has a fundamental and innate need to worship. They do it instinctively. Just look at how people respond to Triplet.

Yes, nothing denotes kindness as much as calling someone a dipshit.
