Will the Holy Ghost get a body?

That is an oft asked question. I asked it a few times growing up and recently and also heard it a few times as well the question asked.

At a ysa fireside I went to Rec Reeve's son who is a retired institute teacher at UVU, His Son in Law is a Stake President in the area. He spoke and was constantly asked that question.

His response I don't know and I don't care Heavenly Father and Jesus like him he will be ok. That is probably the best answer we have for that question.

Of course I am pulling rank here something Joseph McConkie constantly cautions against himself.

If the answer is no, then he will be the only person without one, who isn't in outer darkness.

The Holy Ghost is Heavenly Mother. Therefore she must have a body.

      Haven't you all heard?

(The Toscanos have published about this. I'm sure others have too.)

Of course he will. Absolutely no question about it.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I never was crazy about the Allred/Toscano stuff on the subject but I actually think there is a pretty good chance that Holy Spirit was the "Mother" in at least parts of early Christianity:

From the Apocryphon of John (ca. 125-150 CE)

Jesus said to me, "John, John, why do you doubt, or why are you afraid? You are not unfamiliar with this image, are you? - that is, do not be timid! - I am the one who is with you (pl.) always. I am the Father, I am the Mother, I am the Son. I am the undefiled and incorruptible one."

              Good find, pelagius.

The Toscano stuff is based largely on the HG's realm of "feelings" and comfort - supposedly feminine skills or attributes. So take that for what it's worth.

The ancient Canaanite (and Egyptian) triad is a Father, a Mother, and a powerful son. The Old Testament redactors pretty successfully eliminated most of the "mother" goddess components, and conflated the Father-Son stuff into strict monotheism.

Because a body is required for salvation, and like Christ, in order to fulfill all righteousness, he will have to have one too.

Are you proposing that the Holy Ghost, a member of the Godhead, won't attain Salvation? The thought makes reason stare...

Here's a proposition of my own - He won't need one in the future because He's already had one...

April DeConick, a scholar of gnosticism (Rice University), is writing a book about the trinity and making arguments about the issue more generally:
The mother was originally part of the Trinity. She was the Holy Spirit. As long as the Christian tradition remained attached to Aramaic traditions, the Spirit's female gender is retained. But once the church moves away from these roots, more and more into Greek (and eventually Latin) where the Spirit is neutered, the mother falls away, or is dismissed. The result is a very awkward doctrine of a Father god who births a son god from which proceeds a nebulous neutered spirit god. My readers are always asking why the "other" gospels and gnostic materials are important. Here is a case in point. They help us to reconstruct the earliest doctrine of the Trinity as it included the female.
It will be interesting to see how convincing her evidence is ... I remain skeptical that she can push convincingly as far as what she suggests in the preceding blurp ... but I am looking forward to the book.

                    Solon,

Here is another one ... This one from the gospel of Philip (I think this is still a 2nd century text):

                    18. Some say that Mariam was impregnated by the Sacred Spirit. They are confused, they know not what they say. Whenever has a female been impregnated by a female?
So at least some parts (although maybe just a minority and maybe mostly gnostic groups) seem to view the Holy Spirit as female.

I'm not suggesting anything one way or the other. I'm just interested in why you are so certain.

Right. I meant, I was interested in hearing why. Now I've lost all interest.

This has something to do with trying to reconcile BY's Adam-God doctrine with contemporary doctrine, doesn't it? It's reminding me of another conversation we had. What are you thinking about? Come on.... out with it.

If the Holy Ghost is the wife of God, how is it that she does not have a body right now? And what about the spiritual man figure that Nephi saw?
