1:56 and it's clear that they didn't get the Fox video at all. The Bishop shouldn't have spoken until the very end. I couldn't get past the key change and "Bi--i-i-i-i-i-shoP" part.

Looks like we're the only ones who made it all the way through. Masterpieces like this should be enjoyed in their entirety.

Like HFN I just made my family watch. I don't know of they would have made it through without my support.Originally posted by Vic Vega View PostYou are made of tougher stuff than I am. 13 seconds and I shrank away.... but only because I could not stand any more.

Not sure how to introduce this. This man is clearly LDS, and due to his wealth and a wife that wasn't employed outside the home, he was able to raise his brood this way. Am I wrong in feeling a certain arrogance pervades his words?"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I think he gives really good advice. I don't have that kind of discipline and when it comes to spoiling kids I fail miserably, not because I want to spoil my kids but because I want to spoil myself and they get to come along for the ride because that is just how I and Mrs. Goat roll.Originally posted by wuapinmon View Posthttp://qz.com/165716/how-i-made-sure...ge-themselves/

Of course it sounds arrogant. Nobody likes people giving advice on how to be successful and using their own experience and example. We like humble people who take time to explain why others fail and why it wasn't their fault.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. I am not a fan of austerity parenting, though it's somewhat of a necessity with 12 kids.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI think he gives really good advice. I don't think it is arrogance. I think he thinks he made wise decisions in raising his kids and offers his perspective to others. I didn't get the feeling that he thought his way was the only way rather it was a way that worked for them.Originally posted by wuapinmon View Posthttp://qz.com/165716/how-i-made-sure...ge-themselves/

I'm somewhere between this and wuap. I think he is sharing some sound, if not a bit authoritarian (probably just on the very heavy end of authoritative), parenting practices, which is fine. However, when he starts discussing the physical fitness of his kids and their lack of food allergies and then attributes that directly to his parenting, that definitely crosses into bragging.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostI don't think it is arrogance. There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

That last line though really doesn't sit well with me. "We were and are not their friends. We were their parents." My dad was a good friend to me, and I always knew he was my dad, was boss, and was my parent. But, he called me his friend, and that was a great feeling.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostI don't think it is arrogance. Good for this guy. Society is better off for he and his wife doing the job they did with the kids and grandkids they had because I assume they don't believe in birth control. Some people have kids and more kids, but don't provide for them both materialistically and whatever the other thing is besides material things.
Hopefully none of the kids get off the beaten trail and he has to figure out what he did wrong.
