I think dinosaurs lived on other planets. When God made the Earth, he took rocks from other planets and assembled them together. I learned this in seminary, and some prophet taught this as well. Since a prophet will never lead us astray, this "other planet" theory is the only reasonable explanation.

Where did the "alien dinosaur" theory originate? Joseph Fielding Smith? How do people respond to the fact that there's no science to back it up?
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

The problem I have with this explanation is that "periods" implies subsequence, when in reality, all of these things were occurring simultaneously. It's not a huge hangup, but really, why use the word at all?

Did you see Jurassic Park? It answered that question: the T-Rex ate the Velociraptor.

As to the question, my answer is this: I don't worry about it. Dinosaurs were on earth millions of years ago, but their existence and the age of the earth really have nothing to do with what I need to do to gain salvation.

I'd rather be judged on the merits of my posts in his particular thread. Great topic, by the way. I talked about this crap with other kids starting in elementary school. It was the first indication I had as a child that I was living in an environment of religious extremism.

By the way, I'm not saying this is wrong (it's likely not), but it does seem a little antithetical to what most conservative mormons would say.

A dramatic change in temperature which led to the collapse of the bottom of the aquatic food chain, which brought about mass extinction.

Thanks. They might have said that in one of the shows I watched on preshistoric big fish, but I might have gone to the bathroom during that part.

I'm fairly certain there are two causes:

#1 Asteroid strike dampens sunlight, plankton and algae wither, fish that feed on them are fewer, the big meat-eating fish die off due to lack of game.

#2 Evolution. Fish with gills are at an advantage than the old air-breathing dinosaurs. I remember a Discovery Channel thing about this, where the air breathers were preyed on by bigger gilled animals. There are aquatic airbreathers, but they are mammals. Crocs and gators are amphibians.

Exactly. And that's why the dinosaur sites are all grouped in certain areas of the world. Those parts came from dinosaur planets.

I actually heard this in Gospel Doctrine once. Yikes.
