I am fine with onions if they are in a stew/soup or used in meat to add flavor etc. However on sandwhiches/burgers/pizza where you have to feel the texture of the onion in your mouth.Get confident, stupid

I'm surprised no one here has ever tried durian. If you had it would be on the top of your list. It is the only thing I can think of that I absolutely refuse to eat.
This pretty much sums up the horrible experience of even being near one:
...its odor is best described as pig-shit, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock. It can be smelled from yards away. Despite its great local popularity, the raw fruit is forbidden from some establishments such as hotels, subways and airports, including public transportation in Southeast Asia."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. I will echo some and state that I have a general abhorrence for Applebees. I include Chili's, Shari's, and Chevy's in this category as well--all provide equally tasteless, heavy, vapid food.

Will no one else stick up for black licorice and black jelly beans? Both are delicious. I especially enjoy the Panda brand black licorice.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Chili's, while certainly not fine dining, has nothing on Applebees, which is perhaps the worst swill available to man. Except for Friendly's in the NE (speaking of the food, not necessarily the Fribbles and such).Originally posted by Mrs. Funk View PostI will echo some and state that I have a general abhorrence for Applebees. I don't think I will ever eat at any of those places again, after looking at the nutrition information for Chili's the other day. If I am going to drop a calorie bomb like THAT, I'm going to have good food.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

Had Durian ice cream at Spice Market (well worth a visit, btw) in NYC a few years back. Edible, but stinky, and I'm not sure I'd ever do it again. I don't think I'd like to eat the fruit straight, thank you very much.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

Onions are up there too. I am weird about onions. I hate raw onions. I hate diced cooked onions. I don't mind caramelized onions or onion rings. I am 4 year old at the dinner table when I discover celery or onions in my meal.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI snorted when I read that. I included celery on my list, but I like that you included the f-bomb when describing your hatred for that crap.
Celery tastes gross, it has a horrible crunchy, kind of stringy at times texture. Ants on a log as kid were punishment, not a dessert."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

How would you rank the following:Originally posted by nikuman View PostChili's, while certainly not fine dining, has nothing on Applebees, which is perhaps the worst swill available to man. Except for Friendly's in the NE (speaking of the food, not necessarily the Fribbles and such).

Applebees
TGIFriday
Chuck-o-rama
Golden Corral
Olive Garden
Shoney's
I agree that Chili's is better than those places.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

With the caveat that I have not eaten at any of those places in over 8 years now, and thus am making this up based on memory, here are my thoughts ("best" to worst):Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostHow would you rank the following:

Golden Corral
Olive Garden
Shoney's
I agree that Chili's is better than those places.
TGIFriday. But only because I actually liked the Jack Daniels sauce to drench the desert-dry chicken in.
Shoney's. Solely because of the range of the pies.
Olive Garden. I can fill up on marginally palatable bread.
Applebees. Because I don't have to get my own food most of the time.
Chuck-o-rama/Golden Corral. Is there any difference? Either way, I'm the only one who leaves hungry.
I would seriously prefer a sandwich at Subway to any of those places.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

I am no food snob. I can find something I like at any restaurant. I don't mind any of the restaurants listed here. They may not be my first choice to eat out at but when someone suggests we eat at one of them I don't threaten to only have a diet pepsi if we go. Some of you crack me up at how a certain restaurant is beneath you."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I think my hang-up is that I can make something much better at home for cheaper. But I fancy myself a pretty good cook.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI am no food snob. Chuck-o-rama and Golden Corral are in a class by themselves, though, as far I as I am concerned. Their only purpose is to stuff yourself with as much crap as you can.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.
