I need some suggestions for good food in O-Town. I searched old threads diligently and for the most part came up empty. There was a thread from back in '09 with about 7 posts about Ogden eats - I think our current group can do better. TIA

The last time I ate in Ogden, which was a couple of years ago, it was here: http://tonarestaurant.com/
It's way better than you think a sushi restaurant in the middle of Ogden is going to be.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I had to do a search to understand the reference (the comment about the cookies is true, though).
As it so happens, I was in Ogden about 4 weeks ago visiting my grandmother. She recently moved into an assisted living center, so we took her out to eat. We went to a place called Danny's, in case you want to look into it (it was my grandmother's choice).

Maddox is good.
This place is good as well: http://uniongrillogden.com/
It's your typical lunch/dinner place with sandwiches, soup, pasta, etc.
The chips with salsa and chile con queso was quite good. I've had several of the sandwiches and have enjoyed them all. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

I thought Maddox was expensive and not worth the money. I was unimpressed by the fried chicken that was one of their specialties."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

I wondered if you would remember the cookie comment. It was 3.5 years ago. Thanks for the Danny's suggestion, btw. I may check it out.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostI had to do a search to understand the reference (the comment about the cookies is true, though).

I'll second the Union Grill - been there a couple of times and liked what I had each time.
Another is a small place called the Hug Hes Cafe on Harrison just south of Weber St. I've had someone take me there 2-3 times and really enjoyed the meal.

There is a little Japanese restaurant at 40th and Washington called Temari that is really good. If I remember right, they are only open for lunch during the week, and only open for dinner on Saturday. I didn't have the sushi, but the teriyaki was awesome.
Union Grille is safe.
Prarie Schooner is an old chop house dive with a lot of pioneer kitch. Good steaks, though.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

There is a new soushi place that I like:
http://www.ohanasushi.com/
I like both Union Grill and its' sister restaurant - Roosters.

http://roostersbrewingco.com/
For Mexican I like Sonora Grill:
http://www.thesonoragrill.com/
They have a good selection of ceviches.
For steaks either the Timbermine or Prarie Schooner are decent or Ruby River as an alternate.

Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

If you are ever in the mood to branch out for Mexican in Ogden, there is a place called Ventanas.
Both times we have been there, were were the only caucasians in the place.
The menu has things on it that I had not seen before, but the basics are pretty good.
FM would probably like it. It appears to be much more "authentic" Mexican than many other places in Utah.
It's pretty inexpensive.
Not very high on ambience, though.
Union Grill is a safe bet but I have been disappointed the last couple of times I've been there. The quality and service seem to have dropped with the economy.
You might find the greek restaurant on 25th might be interesting to you.
Roosters is similar to Union, they are sister joints. Roosters has a brew pub feel while Union is more of a casual diner feel.
