He told me ETB and his children and grandchildren would frequent the place between sessions of General Conference, including on Sunday. I guess you can reserve a whole room at the one in downtown Salt Lake. One of the waitresses/hostesses didn't appreciate ETB coming in on Sunday so she wrote a quick note telling him that she didn't like having to work on Sunday or something to that effect. Needless to say, that was last time ETB was ever seen there and the owner found out about the note and fired the waitress.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

You seem to know a lot of people that confront General Authorities.

I have never had the pleasure of eating at a Golden Corral and am unsure if I will ever consume what I am sure is a fantastic meal. This thread reminded me of one of my favorite buffet stories. I remember back in the simpler times of 2004 when the Atkins diet was the craze. A couple was dining at Chuck-a-Rama and the husband went for his 13th slice of beef and was turned away. He was eating this beef in an attempt to lose weight. He was on the Atkins diet and liked the variety and portions that Chuck-a-Rama provided.

"We've never claimed to be an all-you-can-eat establishment," said Johanson. "Our understanding is a buffet is just a style of eating."

My wife taught school in Lemon Grove, California. The school was as poly-ethnic and cultural as possibly could be, with the common denominator being that everyone came from lower middle class families.

She asked her 2nd grade class to write about themselves, and their favorite foods and a restaraunt that was their favorite. She got twelve homages to Hometown Buffet, which was pronounced by all as "Hometown Buff-it". One of the Somali children wrote at great length, and said that her sister's wedding party had been held at HB.

Later in the year she gave my wife the bride and groom that had been atop the wedding cake. It was one of the sweetest things a child ever did for my wife. Accoridngly, we have a soft spot at my house for Hometown Buffett on account of the innocent, sweet little kids from her class. Of course, we also hope we never, ever have to eat there.
