I've noticed you don't like criticism of Utah food. You were also offended about The average nature of Hires burgers. You probably think crown Burgers are delicious?
Too funny. You claim Red Iguana is "overrated" because it's listed as Best in State; however, you can't name a single place you think would be better suited for that title. Did it ever occur to you that Utah, seeing as how we're not sharing a border with Mexico (insert joke about Arizona being the same thing as Mexico here), may not have quite the same quality of Mexican food as, say, Southern California, and thus labeling Red Iguana as Best In State isn't an "overrating" but an accurate rating?

As usual, you're all bluster and blather with no substance.

I like Red Iguana. I'm a sucker for their chile con queso, and we usually order their chile colorado burrito with shredded beef. The moles are also good. I've ordered a few things I didn't like, so I tend not to be super adventurous if we end up there. I do agree that the wait to be seated is usually a bit ridiculous. There's Red Iguana 2 around the corner that we've had good luck at getting seated fast.

Chunga's still has a Salt Lake location near Red Iguana (their ill-fated Provo location never did take off).

I like Red Iguana OK. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered there. I do agree that their mole is what they are known for - so don't get creative.

I also like Rio Grande Cafe and have enjoyed anything I've ordered there.

There is a place called Molina's that is on State St. and around 60th S., more or less, that I also like. They've got good chile verde.

But in taking any recommendations from me, please keep in mind that I'm not all that picky. I mean, I really do like Cafe Rio. And I can find something at any number of chain restaurants that I will really like. So I may not be one to take recommendations from.

That thought occurs to me frequently, actually.

Others here agree with me that the Red iguana is both overrated and that there are better places within the state. In fact, people have provided names of such places. I win!

The one by the delta center is just ok tacos, but he kills it because he is the only show in town for the nearby office people. I'm sure there is a better cart out there.

Try the cart on the NE corner of State and 5th South. Very good food and the guy is a hoot.

Haven't you been to Lone Star Taqueria and said good things about it? If not, that is a good place to go for mexican food. I'm also really like Chunga's.

I also do like Red Iguana, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

What were the barbecued corn carts called? Those were spectacular! Elotes or something?

I think you're being a bit of an ass about Red Iguana. Their Cochinita Pibil is delicious and I always get corn tortillas. But I'm totally with you on getting a taco truck thread going. I celebrated my birthday this year by inviting all of my friends out to dinner after the Utah game. We all met in the Sears parking lot and I treated them to as many delicious 75 cent tacos as they could eat. It was a beautiful night.

Fortunately the Provo Chunga's was replaced with Laura's Kitchen, which also serves some pretty fantastic tacos.

I forgot about that place. Yes, LST has good tacos. That is the place in Ft union, correct? I need to get out there soon

So you disagree with my take (and the take of others) about the Red Iguana, yet admit that by choice you do NOT get the flour tortillas and that when treating friends to a meal, you took them elsewhere to eat. We can agree to disagree, I guess.

Where is Sears? Is that the taco cart on State and 9S?

Red Iguana is actually where I went with my family on my birthday. My budget was more limited with 20 of my friends. About the tortillas, it appeared to me that one of your criticisms was that they didn't have good corn tortialls. Forgive me if I was mistaken.

And yes, that's the taco cart I was talking about. The one facing State does two tacos for $1.50. There are two other carts in the same parking lot, one facing South and one facing West. The East facing one, Tacos don Rafa, has an excellent tasting al pastor.

Yep, Lonestar Taqueria is up in Ft. Union. Really good food, terrible parking.

That's a good question. I feel like it is my duty to start testing them as often as possible.
