Spam is Christmas for danimal. Growing up, he'd eat fried Spam, a poached egg with Hollandaise sauce on an English muffin on Christmas morning. It's a tradition he won't break.What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I've never had the opportunity. Well, I should say I have always had better options. My parents grew up on Spam and both hate it. It was never in our house growing up. My wife's family ate it occasionally too and she isn't a fan of it. I wouldn't be opposed to trying it though.Comment

When my wife was making commercials for an ad agency Hormel was one of their clients. She made several Spam commercials. The Hormel people had a good sense of humor about Spam, she says, and the ads were pretty clever (i.e., tongue in cheek) too.
She did not make this one (and says she wouldn't have - it's pretty bad), but it gives you an idea of Hormel's approach back then:

My Dad would fry it up and put a brown sugar coating on top of it and it spite of the sugar topping I still didn't like it. I'm pretty sure my kids have no idea what Spam is.Comment
