  • The Dodo, Salt Lake City

We had dinner with friends tonight at The Dodo, a bistro-style restaurant in the Sugar House area. The atmosphere was great - informal and friendly - and the food was very good. The desserts seem to be a real attraction. We shared the Toll House pie. Prices were reasonable. We'll be back.

The banana cream cheese pie is, perhaps, the best dessert ever.

Make sure it's the banana cream cheese and not just the plain old banana cream.

My first real job was bussing tables at The Dodo during the summer when I was 15. This was back when it was still on 9th East. The owners are nice people and I agree the food is great, especially the deserts. Their sandwiches are very good, makes for a nice sit-down lunch for under $15.

We love the Dodo. Having it right down the street makes it even better. I love the key lime pie and the shrimp margarita pasta.

Thanks for the info, LA. Sounds like a consensus so far on this place - I'll have to give it a shot.

21st south, just above 13th east on the north side of the road.

I have only had the desserts there, but they are really good.

I'm not that big of a fan of their entrees. But the desserts are pretty darned good.

My girlfriend worked here all through high school. Lots of free good food was a nice perk.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I haven't been there in a long time, but I think there was a picture of a bird on the sign? So yeah...the bird. Explains everything.

How many restaurants' names really make sense? Copper Onion?

I don't know, but it seems like you at least don't want a name that connotes death and extinction.
