You live in a hot dry place, right? If they aren't grown locally, maybe go talk to the produce manager at your local grocery store about ordering you a case. I went to the local farmers market today and talked to one of the local growers. She had a few on her table and I picked up a couple lbs. of them, but she said in about 2 weeks, she will be swimming in them. On a side note, there was a vendor selling what she called "Indian Pickles" which were sweet and spicy. They were great but she wanted $26.00 for a large jar!

I'm going to have to try this recipe. I know you said this wouldn't work with salad cucumbers, but is this true even if the salad cucumbers were not allowed to grow to their usual size?
Also, have you tried pickling other veggies? I have carrots, and peppers (jalapenos, anaheims, bell) I would like to pickle as well. I need to get my hands on a good recipe for those.

I got two BUSHELS of pickling cukes yesterday at the Columbia Farmers Market for $20 total. I can't say about salad cucumbers, but they won't be as crisp. Hey wuap, do you make/like red cinnamon pickles or green pickles? (I can't remember what was in the green, but I think they were along the same lines.) My grandma used to make pickles all summer long but stuck to the red and green ones mainly, often making the red using red hot hearts purchased at Valentine's. My other grandma made spicy pickles and I wasn't a fan of those, but I could eat the red ones all day long.
My wife doesn't like pickles and my older daughter isn't a fan either, so I don't foresee us getting into pickling anytime soon. I might have to show up on your doorstep with a jar one day.I have nothing else to say at this time.

I'm glad yall like them. If you don't use freshly peeled garlic, the garlic punch isn't quite as strong. But, I like the garlic. I'll even make a few just-for-papi jars with 10 cloves in them. If you buy real garlic and peel it yourself vs. pre-peeled, it will change the flavor significantly.
