If I narrow my browser window, the title of this thread simply reads, "wuap's pickle".

        That's a short read.

I'm going to give this a try wuap. Looks like fun. Have you pickled anything else? I was thinking it would be fun to make some sauerkraut.

If you are interested in some sauerkraut, I will have to get you my mom's recipe. I am not big on sauerkraut but everyone raves about it

Yes, I have. I did some cauliflower, onions, bell peppers, cucumbers, and carrots in a Costa Rican "Encurtido" style a few years ago. It was awesome. I'll see if I can dig up the recipe if you want it.

One of my favorite meals is pork roast with sauerkraut. I put a pork roast in the crockpot with a bottle of sauerkraut, some brown sugar and dry onion soup mix. I cook it on low for 6-8 hours and then serve it with mashed potatoes, using the sauerkraut as a gravy. Try it, and I promise you'll be a fan of sauerkraut.

Is the brine a good pickle juice for drinking? I love a good pickle juice recovery drink when I've been sweating a lot.

                        Delicious when cold.

Lately I've been on a Bread and Butter pickled cucumber kick. There's a nearby farm that produces their own brand and they're insanely good. I'm going through a jar every couple of weeks.

Waup, I have bought everything I need to make these pickles, except I cannot find pickling cucumbers... None of the stores here carry them and thus far I have not been able to go to any farmers markets to see if I can find them. Frustrating. I am looking forward to making these.
