Here is my first canning effort. We'll see how they turned out in a few weeks!

wuap, I'm going to give this a try. I've got 5 Liberty cucumber plants in my garden and they are starting to produce. Can't wait. I'll let you know how it turns out after I'm able to make some of your pickles.

Also, have you tried pickling other veggies? I have carrots, and peppers (jalapenos, anaheims, bell) I would like to pickle as well. I need to get my hands on a good recipe for those.
I got two BUSHELS of pickling cukes yesterday at the Columbia Farmers Market for $20 total. Tonight, I shall be making pickles.

I can't say about salad cucumbers, but they won't be as crisp. As to other veggies, that's in the cards for tomorrow if I can get some other projects done tonight.

I went to the local farmers market today and talked to one of the local growers. She had a few on her table and I picked up a couple lbs. of them, but she said in about 2 weeks, she will be swimming in them. She gave me her contact info and said to call her the day before I want them with the quantity and size I want and she would have them waiting for me at her store.

On a side note, there was a vendor selling what she called "Indian Pickles" which were sweet and spicy. They were great but she wanted $26.00 for a large jar!

A sugar-added pickle that is sweet like relish.
