My mom still acts like that. Not with Oreos, but with Hawaiian food items. She always asks if I want her to bring stuff back, and I just tell her I can get it at the grocery store.

Bingo. Plus diamond soda crackers, mauna pua, lau lau, miso peanuts, mochi, etc. Yet my mom is always calling me asking if I need stuff from Hawai'i.

I've also got Kauai Family Restaurant a few minutes from my house, and that place makes the best Guava chiffon cake I've ever tasted. Haupia needs some work, however.

LUCKY! That's what sucks about the east coast. No food out here. Have to make your own.

Uwajimaya is an Asian market and grocery store providing the widest variety of Asian meats, seafood, produce and gifts. Locations in WA and OR.

The place is awesome and probably a mile from my house. When my wife asks me where I want to go out to eat, I always say the food court at Uwajimaya.

This place was just on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, but I still haven't been there yet: http://www.bobbyshawaiianstylerestaurant.com/

This place has pretty good poke: http://www.ohanabelltown.com/

Uwajimaya is awesome. You can buy good kine saimin there. There was an Uwajimaya in Portland that we used to frequent when my family lived there and a good Hawaiian restaurant called Noho's we used to eat at as well.

Yeah, they have S&S saimin. And Samurai Noodle is attached to the food court. I just filled up my card and get a free bowl of saimin! Woohoo!

I've always loved the thin mints.

The Samoas are very good too. I could eat both by the boxes.

How many Samoas are in a box this year? I hear the number decreased due to "rising fuel costs."
