Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

A Cheese-on-a-Stick at Dog-on-a-Stick is, essentially, a grilled cheese sandwich on a stick.
I had one this evening. I have no idea why. I was at the mall and wanted a drink. The lemonade looked appealing, so I got the sugar free lemonade.
However, I left the counter with a drink in one hand and a c.o.a.s in the other.
While I was eating said c.o.a.s., I actually thought of this thread because I realized how much it tasted like a grilled cheese sandwich.

I've never been much of a grilled cheese fan. I guess it is the runniness of the melted cheese - probably relates to some bad grilled cheese I had as a kid made with processed american cheese. The same can also be said about macaroni and cheese.
I am, however, a big fan of a toasted cheese sandwich - essentially cheese on a single piece of bread cooked under a broiler until the top layer is slightly browned and crispy. I make it with cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, whatever is available. It's basically cheese bread. It goes great with warm soup and a quart of chilled peaches."You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."
"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. It's my fault for overestimating your competence."

That's good stuff. I like to bake it first to brown the bottom of the bread, and then flip on the broiler to crust the cheese. I've only ever used cheddar. I'm going to start branching out.Originally posted by hostile View PostI've never been much of a grilled cheese fan. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Adding one more thing to my list.Originally posted by Space GhostJarlsberg makes a pretty mean grilled cheese samwich... it's available at Costco for pretty cheap. It's a nice sturdy cheese that goes well with just about any meat on a hoagie bun, but still melts ridiculously smooth when added to a sauce for pasta or veggies. It's my favorite cheese; try it and see if you agree.
cheers.
Thank you.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
