I make my apple pie crust with flour, sugar and cream cheese. It's a pain to make but it tastes heavenly. Not sharp cheddar though.

And I must be a long lost cousin to PAC's wife. I put ketchup on my french toast. Yum-yum!

The pie crust sounds delicious, but yuck, the ketchup part sounds almost as bad as putting Mayonaise on French Toast, which the missionaries did in Japan

I'm laughing even as my stomach turns at the thought of this.

I've hard that one before. Also liked it as a kid.

Nasty. My brother is the ketchup king. It goes on everything and I don't think he'd ever put it on French toast. My brother is also known for mixing BBQ sauce and Ranch dressing for dipping.

I thought cheese on apple pie was a regional thing, particularly the South. It is an interesting taste, but not something I want regularly on my apple pie.

I consider the cheese/apple pie thing to be on par with peanuts in a glass of RC Cola, fried hush puppies, or ham hocks, black eyed peas and pepper sauce.

This isn't too bad for onion rings and french fries.

Agreed. At our house we mix Blue Cheese dressing and BBQ sauce for dipping. My kids call it "BlueBQ"

The Mrs. and I went out to dinner tonight at this relatively new and hip place. Apple pie with cheddar cheese was on the dessert menu.

Apple pie with cheese is Yankee food! We'd rather you didn't make the association you mentioned with those carpet-bagging sons of bitches' dessert and our hallowed gastronomical traditions.

I just saw this thread, don't know how I missed it, but I think it's a no-brainer that cheese and apple pie would be good. Apple, and other fruits that grow on trees (pears in particular) go really well with cheese. The salt of the cheese accentuates the sweetness of the fruit. So it shouldn't surprise us that people have tried and like this combination, nor should its inclusion on the menu of the hip restaurant MG went to. It's a natural combination folks.

wasn't this pears, cottage cheese and shredded cheese?
