Some guys, as they mature, stop using their probe thermometer as frequently or at all. Maybe the probe thermometer doesn't work any more. Maybe the guy has lost interest and focuses on other things now. Some guys spend money later in life to get a working probe thermometer even though their friends have moved on to a different stage of life.
