  • Must be spring in the air. I just bought 100 lbs of pellets. Time for pulled pork.

I'm picking up 600 lbs for the tick and myself on Friday! Pellets, not pulled pork.

speaking of which, anyone down for another group buy? I though the last worked out quite well and I thought the pellets were really good.

I have been meaning to ask. I've gone through my bags. I'm in for three or four.

            • I wouldn't mind another couple of bags. I just finished my first, and have liked them better than the Traeger brand.

              • Cookinpellets.com also has their 100% hickory pellets back in stock. They are excellent as well!

                    • I'm in for several bags as well. What kind of prices are you getting? I think I posted previously about the guy I met in the Sportsman's Warehouse parking lot that buys in bulk from the former Traeger supplier (before they changed their product). I'll have to find his business card, but I think I remember the prices being very low. He might be another option.

Does he sell different types of pellets? That would be the best scenario.

I believe he does. I'll see if I can track him down today and find out what he can get.

We paid 12.56 per 20 lbs. each bag is 40lbs. That was for the perfect mix pellets. The pure Hickory are a little bit more.

                            • So after two days of scrubbing and 4 cans of easy-off oven cleaner I got this this pretty clean. I decided to go to bare metal and just re-season. There was alot of creosote and funky stuff on the inside. After it was clean, I sprayed down the inside with PAM and threw some bacon in there to start re-seasoning it. I think it will take a few cooks to get properly seasoned. I am going to fab up a stack for the exhaust.

I am not really impressed with the Traeger controller. It was about 15-25 deg off compared to the Thermoworks RTD.
