Looking for a recommendation for a good food thermometer. Thanks.

On DT's recommendation, I picked up one of these:

    Pricey, but I love it.

This is probably not what you want, but in any case it's what I use on my smoker.

I like that I can have the monitor in my house and know the temperature of the smoker and meat at the same time without peering out the window. Makes smoking and watching college football more fun.

This. In addition, if you're doing something in the oven, you can leave the probes in and know when it's done, rather than having to continually open the oven to test it.

One of these days I'm going to challenge you to a smoking throw down, Bobby Flay style.

That would be cool. I am not much for competition. I do it just to promote the art of smoking. I am way out of practice. There, that should cover most excuses... lol Plus, your from Texas, so your brisket would automatically be better.

Seriously, someday I would love to compete, but competition bbq is a whole other beast.

Folks, anyone know where I can purchase a nice food therm in person, as opposed to online? I'd like to pick one up today rather than wait for shipping. Looking for one for oven cooking. Wanting to practice making prime rib. yum!

That is a horrible website! no products listed. I am on the phone right now on hold. they are checking to see if they sell any remote ones. Thanks for the heads up, this is a good start.

Ideally would be nice to see what brand they are selling so I can check product reviews.

I like my prime rib medium rare. If you wrap it in a towel inside a cooler it should be just fine to leave it on my doorstep. Thanks.
