I took my kids plus a neighbor kid to Sweet Tree Frozen Yogurt yesterday. I don't know if it's a franchise, a chain or a local shop, but it just opened up in the last couple of weeks here and their marketing plan is BRILLIANT.

It's self-serve frozen yogurt that you pay for by the ounce. There is one size for the cups--enormous. You serve yourself, help yourself to your own toppings and then pay for it by the ounce. You really have no way of knowing how much it is going to cost until you take it to the scale. I served my 2-year-old myself and tried to limit how full the other three filled up their cups, but there was only so much I could do. And then they went crazy with the toppings. We took the four cups to the scales. I spent $20 on four yogurts for four children. And that was after the $2 off coupon.

Yes, a brilliant marketing plan. And I am NEVER going back. I could have gone to Kroger and bought them each a half gallon of Blue Bell ice cream for that. And it would tasted so much better too.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Well, frozen yogurt is pretty new in Mississippi. I think we have a TCBY somewhere in the state but other than that, I think this one is the first. Generally, we prefer desserts that are fried and full of fat over nonfat yogurt with live and active cultures.

lol. That's like those M&Ms tourist stores where they have all the M&Ms sold by the color in bulk bins at 7.99 a pound. They make those bins to work like a firehose when you open the valve at the bottom. You see all the parents go bug eyed when they get to the counter and realized their three kids just bought eighteen dollars worth of green m&ms.

I love those places and am poorer for it. I treated my nieces and nephews at the joint in Saratoga Springs last week. It was very tasty. We also have a good one in Murray across the street from the Death Star. ( The Intermountain Medical Center)

The one in Saratoga Springs is Yogurt Bliss.

I also like Red Mango, not self serve but delicious.

Maverick also has some good frozen yogurt.

Las Vegas is replete with these places. Within 2 miles of my house there is Yougurtland, Yogel's, U-swirl, Menchies, and one more that I can't remember the name of. they've sparked a price war, which is great for me. Currently its 30 cents an ounce at all of them.

I don't see these things lasting long. Remember in the late 80s/early 90s when froyo first took off? 5 years later there were only one or two places still standing. Smoothies came next, with Zuka/Jamba juice, golden swirl(not spoon), etc. Then the icecream fad took over with cold stone and maggie moos, etc. Now that fad is over and froyo is hot again. I give it 5 years max.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Red Mango is one of my favorite treats. I probably get that twice a week.

Maverick is the best convenience store in the entire world, IMO. In the past ten years those places have transformed from a crappy gas station to a small grocery store and deli. I went into one on a recent trip to Utah and had to buy three hot dogs just to completely sample the amazing condiments available at the hot dog bar. They also have an insane variety of beef jerky and sunflower seeds.

Fro-cus has been popular in Ohio for some time. Trends are set here, no doubt.

I thought it was fun. I scream for any chance I can to promote Dayton.
