I took my kids plus a neighbor kid to Sweet Tree Frozen Yogurt yesterday. I don't know if it's a franchise, a chain or a local shop, but it just opened up in the last couple of weeks here and their marketing plan is BRILLIANT.
It's self-serve frozen yogurt that you pay for by the ounce. There is one size for the cups--enormous. You serve yourself, help yourself to your own toppings and then pay for it by the ounce. You really have no way of knowing how much it is going to cost until you take it to the scale. I served my 2-year-old myself and tried to limit how full the other three filled up their cups, but there was only so much I could do. And then they went crazy with the toppings. We took the four cups to the scales. I spent $20 on four yogurts for four children. And that was after the $2 off coupon.
Yes, a brilliant marketing plan. And I am NEVER going back. I could have gone to Kroger and bought them each a half gallon of Blue Bell ice cream for that. And it would tasted so much better too.
