  • Fries

My wife has a couple of friends who meet together once a month and get some street fries or loaded fries from a place. They have kind of gone through the ones they know so she asked me to ask you guys for any recommendations within 5-10 miles of the 11400 S Exit in Salt Lake County.

Carne Asada Fries from Rancheritos at the exit on 12300 South and I-15. Might work if your wife and friends are 22 year old college boys.

I don't really know any in the area you asking about but my wife likes a version of loaded fries from Santorini's. I believe there is one in Sandy

They have been to Santorinis. I don't know how she'll take the Rancheritos recommendation. I like it.

Spitz has street fries that are pretty good with the doner kebab meat on them.

Bumblebees KPOP fries - Bumblebees KBBQ - Home Not sure if it's in your range as it's in Midvale.

        R&R BBQ has nacho fries

Of course Bruges has classic Belgian frites but they also have various loaded fries like their Atomium or Belfry menu items: Bruges Belgian Bistro - Food Menu But they're only in Sugarhouse and Downtown so it's probably outside your range. They have a food truck with their schedule online so maybe you can catch it at a closer location.

I've never tried Mooyah's but they're in your range and have loaded fries Store | 359 | UT South Jordan

Also, if you find a Peruvian restaurant you can order lomo saltado which is kind of the OG loaded fries as ancestral Peruvians invented the potato.

Definitely outside the requested range, but my wife and I tried the Chowder Fries at the Boathouse at Hendrys Beach in Santa Barbara on Thursday. 5 stars, and the view and smell of ocean spray contributed to the experience.

Great thread! I agree with BFM's R&R/Spitz recs.

I recently saw someone on Twitter post about Enrico's Deli in West Jordan and it looked really great. I can't necessarily recommend it because I haven't been there, but the reviews seem pretty good. Looks like they have a few loaded fry options.

Speaking of fries, Mrs and I have made Chef Jean Pierre’s fry recipe a few times and they are very good and makeable at home (we use a Dutch oven to fry them).

It’s a lot of work but you can make them ahead of time and do the final frying on a different day. Also, Jean Pierre is hilarious.

Ha. If my wife went out with friends, fries would be the very last thing she would choose.

Spicy fries at Five Guys might be my favorite. With fry sauce.

Thanks for all the recommendations. She loves Spitz too. Too bad Santa Barbara is a ways away from the Hollywood Bowl, or I could try your recommendation in June.

I vote Five Guys as well.

I do like Five Guys fries (definitely better than In-N-Out) but I prefer the regular Five Guys fries to the cajun spiced ones.

By the way, Chef Jean Pierre's fry recipe when we made it at home comes as close as I can get to Five Guys fries. After we made it the first time we decided to just leave the skins on our for second attempt (too much hassle to peel them). They still turned out really well and I don't mind that they're more "homestyle" with the skins on. With the skins on they are very, very similar to Five Guys.

I've wanted to try that place as well. Sounds like the fries are good. Overall a decent spot?
