My sister does the Bountiful baskets, and always brings us what her family can not eat in a week. The produce is always very fresh and delicious.

We have done the Borski Farms CSA since moving here last year. It has worked out pretty well -- it's kind of fun to get stuff you aren't very familiar with and figure out how to cook it.

I found a Central California coop that I may try out.

They deliver here locally on Saturdays and have weekly add-ons you can order as well. $22.00 for a small box, and $36 for a large.Last edited by Drunk Tank; 07-20-2010, 09:32 PM."I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's a$$, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it". - Tommy Callahan III

I actually run something like a co-op. About once ever 4-5 weeks, I go to the State Farmers Market in Columbia. Before I go, I invite the community to buy a share for $15. If we have 20 shares, then each share gets 1/20th of what I buy. I then take all the money, and after buying gas, I buy as much as I can on the farmers market, with local getting priority over price. It usually gets you about $40-$60 worth of fresh produce (at Wal-Mart prices).
I can't find all my photos right now, but here's a portion of one share:

Mpfunk picked up our first basket today, and got a nice array of fruits and veggies. i was a little bit bummed not to see more leafy veggies (it came with one nice bunch of green leaf lettuce), but really, a nice selection and about right for the amount of produce we eat in one week. At $15, a bargain.
Veggies:
2 big fatty tomatoes
4 or so cobs of corn
About 2 lbs. of Yukon gold potatoes
3 English cucumbers
1 bunch green leaf lettuce
1 head of cauliflower
Fruits:
6 plums
7 peaches
Big bunch of bananas (but VERY green)
A pineapple
Bag of red grapes
Small watermelon
Edit: By "we," I mean Mpfunk as Her Highness stayed in bed for the 8:30 pickup. Ahhhh, sweet chlldless Saturday morning sleeping in."You know, I was looking at your shirt and your scarf and I was thinking that if you had leaned over, I could have seen everything." ~Trial Ad Judge

We just got back a while ago from picking up our first haul as well. Sounds like we got almost exactly what you got. Pretty fun to come home with a bunch of produce for so little money. We picked up at the PG location.Originally posted by Mrs. Funk View PostMpfunk picked up our first basket today, and got a nice array of fruits and veggies. i was a little bit bummed not to see more leafy veggies (it came with one nice bunch of green leaf lettuce), but really, a nice selection and about right for the amount of produce we eat in one week. It's good looking stuff, too. A lot of it isn't ripe yet, but it means if we keep doing the co-op then we will have a rotation of ripe and new fruits and vegetables. I'm excited to try some new recipes this week.Originally posted by OhioBlue View PostWe just got back a while ago from picking up our first haul as well. We've been in one for the last year. For the most part, we've been happy with it.Originally posted by beefytee View PostHave any of you participated in something like this?
We started a few weeks ago:
http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/
We have loved it and are eating better because of it.
We're exploring vegetables and fruits we haven't before.
The place to pick it up is right around the corner from us. It fills up quickly and last Monday I forgot to set the alarm to go online and get a spot. I ended up going out to eagle mountain which isn't that far.

Went to the farmers market and spent $13. I got 3 vidalia onions, 3 red peppers, 3 green peppers, pound each of yellow squash and zucchini, pound of green beans, and 6 ears of corn.
I found out about a CSA here in town though from a guy at work yesterday. $410 a year for one share. Produce every week from spring to the end of fall. In October you get pumpkins and in December you get a Christmas tree. He said it has been great so far."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

The week I suggest it to everyone they tell me that the corn is moldy and you can rummage through it and pick out your own.Originally posted by Mrs. Oh well. I'm still really happy with it.
There usually are more green vegetables. 2 of the 4 weeks we have gone they did brussels sprouts and some weeks I believe they have had broccoli, celery and spinach.
All I could get out of MP was a token hello when I ran into him there. I even wore my Red Wings hat to harass him and everything.
